The position of Truck Driver is responsible for ensuring timely deliveries of orders according to a predetermined schedule. The driver will also review orders and routes before departure, assist with loading and unloading the truck, and provide excellent customer service while representing our company during deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure correct and punctual delivery and unloading of all scheduled orders.
Verify that all materials for delivery are loaded onto the truck before leaving the premises.
Maintain ongoing communication with the scheduler.
Keep and manage all driving records and daily paperwork related to the position.
Adhere to all relevant state and local driving laws and regulations.
Conduct pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, promptly reporting any safety concerns or issues to the supervisor. Additionally, maintain a clean and safe truck.
Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks.
May involve occasional overnight deliveries to other branches and distant customers.
Provide support in stocking and organizing the warehouse as required.
Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the warehouse and surrounding grounds as assigned.
Perform any other duties as directed by management.
Before operating a class B truck, the driver must thoroughly review and acknowledge understanding of the Truck Driver Procedures Manual. All procedures in the manual must be followed at all times.
The Truck Driver role is a dynamic position and may evolve over time. Duties may be added, removed, or modified as necessary.
Performance will be assessed based on:
Timeliness and efficiency of work performed.
Customer satisfaction.
Safety and quality of work, measured by no damage to delivered products, the truck, or equipment.
Working Hours and Compensation:
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour workday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Early morning start to ensure timely deliveries.
Hourly wage: $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, as per the negotiated rate in the union contract.
Full-time benefits as negotiated with the union.
Travel required within a 100-mile radius of Pittsburgh.
Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
